When making ‘real’ changes in life and in business one of the first things we need so often to do is to ‘Get Out of Our Own Way.’ That may seem like a strange thing to do, but it is exactly what is required if we want to move to a whole new level of energy, consciousness, clarity and focus.
When we think about doing something new or different we all know about the ‘chatterbox’ that can go on in our heads, with thoughts like; ‘I wouldn’t really be able for that’ or ‘I haven’t got the time for that right now’ or, ‘it is safer to stay where I am’, ‘it’s not where I want to be but, I am familar with it’ or, ‘are you mad? people will think I’ve lost the run of myself’. With all of this chatter we can so easily talk ourselves out of making changes. And so we ‘settle for’ the old way rather then ‘go for’ new frontiers and pastures.
So much of this chatter may stem from what we have come to truly believe about ourselves, made up of a combination of what we were told and what we have experienced in life so far. We base our ‘identity’ and beliefs on this restrictive self view. However, there is a new way to consciously live which starts with taking a deep breath, gently stepping back as an observer to the feelings of self doubt and letting those restrictive thoughts move on like passing clouds. This gives us time to reflect and breathe into a deeper awareness within, from which we get a greater self understanding in which we actually can make a conscious choice about the direction we wish to take.
Like going from one side of a bridge to the other, we make new changes one step at a time, and this mindful attention opens our eyes to new possibilities and opportunites along the way. By ‘Stepping out of our own way’ we actually come to know who we really are. We step into a new rhythm and vibration which supports beautifully, wonderful new and exciting changes.
